I am contemplating purchasing one of these with the Tusasmi sp? installed. I am not going to convert to DCC for awhile and am interested in folks who run this on DC only. I've been through all the threads about ripping the sound decoder out and installing the QSI or similiar etc. I am aware of all these options but have yet to find info on just running this on DC. Does it chuff like my LGB according to the speed? How do the bells and compression work with DC. I know some options are available only with DCC but hope to find someone, who at least at one point, ran it just with DC and their experiences. I'm very familiar with LGB analog and digital sound systems but this will be my first Bachmann. Thanks, Bill
I have a couple of HO locos (Blackstone K-27 and Intermountain AC-12) with the Tsynami units that will "talk" when operated with the MRC "Black Box" controller. The only potential problem might be with the power draw of the 3 motors in the Shay--My Black Box is an early one rated at 1.5 or 2 anps. I think they have a heavier-duty one now.
