We try to cut you slack, but, I mean, come on, is though you like when people yell at you. This question is silly. The bachman has a company and they are priced that for a reason, your plea is silly. I am just being honest

i don't mean to be rude but you can email them, post the question on facebook ( if you have one), or send them a "tweet" on the twitter ( if you have one ) instead of making a topic for every question you have. plus if you think their prices are too high then look for a hobby or train shop that carries them for low prices. I myself use www.peachcreekshops.com . very convenient for me, who lives in philladelphia. they are located in Maryland. if you live close to Maryland then use this place. i usually get my package in 2-4 days. friendly service, too.

Good God guys.  ::)

Aren't the prices low enough already? In the UK they cost about £30 each! That's pee water for a model engine!

This is pathetic.

The Bach-man won't lower prices for you, especially during a recession

Thank you: Don't models outside of Thomas and Friends cost about 100 U.S. dollars or more (unless they are terrible). (I think the prices are alright, but they should be proportional to each other (ie. Mavis being less than Edward and the China Clay twins being less or about the same as Mavis), but these are just my 2 cents.

I'd also like to add that this should either be in the Everything Thomas Topic or MAYBE the wishlist thread (maybe not).

Its the quality of the model that counts not the size.

Bachmann's models are cheaper than almost all of the other model train companies out there today. The prices on Bachmann Thomas engines blow Hornby's out of the water. And Bachmann's are so much more detailed and accurate to the TV series. If Bachmann was to cut their prices, it would only mean less income for them and that can lead to bankruptcy. So would you rather pay $30 for a model or not be able to buy the model at all?

If you want a train bigger than a pencil get a different scale  ;D But then of course prices go up too. I mean, a pencil is a piece of wood with graphite (right?) in it. A train is a piece of plastic with paint and a motor. Then there's all the wires and eye mechanism etc.  And don't forget, the more detail, the higher the price  ;)

Recently I got an Edward priced at only $31.20! However for some strange reason, the website took all their Bachmann Thomas stuff off shortly afterwards. Coincidence? Hmm...

I don't think they're trying to get rid of their Thomas line. Just before they took everything down, they raised all the prices back to retail. Plus they still have the G scale line (which is also ridiculously priced). In the past they had all the Bachmann Thomas stuff marked at exactly 50% retail. Maybe what happened was after Bachmann's prices went up, they didn't raise their prices with them. They're probably just re-pricing everything. The place is called "Ridge Road Station", and it's located in New York. Maybe one of you has heard of it. (I also got a red Express Brake Coach for $14.80 and a brake van for $7.40. ;D)

They have a great website and slash all of the prices! Shame they are retiring, if I had the time I would stop in, but from now to July I am booked. Confirmation, Graduation, Musical(I am Nana the dog in my schools play this year, Peter Pan), Weddings, Birthdays(all milestones), and so much more! Little hobby shops like those really help the model railroading community and it seems one by one they slowing disappear or go out of business. It is a shame, but Bachmann is doing a great job attracting young kids with the Thomas line. Hopefully they will grow up and still be interested in the hobby.

I have a small hobby shop in my town, but they really only sell S Gauge and a little HO. No G so I don't shop much there. There is one a few towns over, and I am friendly with the owner. I have been a repeat costumer for years. He sells mainly O and then there is a good amount of G. No N or HO, but he has enough scales to attract local hobbyists. Sadly he said his sales are way down and it does not look to good, but he said he will still be able to stay open. Then over the river and past Philly to Nicholas Smith I go for almost all of my model railroading needs. I try to support as many hobby shops as I can so they stay open.

My local hobby stores were never big on HO Thomas items.

This was a bump, but it seems the discussion has bloomed.  ;)

Ya dude... I Agree with sodoradventures. Bachmann has the prices on the rolling stock for a reason! If you don't like the prices of the rolling stock on the website,  then go to a discount hobby site.   >:(

The Bachmann Thomas range is actually priced well compared to other HO items. It's an ideal starting point into the hobby, and so is marketed at a reasonable price. They do have to make some money from the range you know  ::)

the amazing thing is that these models run as well as they do for the price they sell for. look at some of the junk that's out there in entry level train sets. bachmann needs to be commended for the upgrades they've made in the quality of their product over the years. having decent running models available at a modest price is the best way to attract people to this hobby.

This resscion has been coming for a few years, but finally hit in 2008. Right after Obama was elected. It really started in 2005 under Bush when the real estate market went to mush. Bachmann's prices for an engine are all under $100, which is cheap for an engine with Bachmann's quality.

Again, because we are in a resecion, the less trains they sell, the higher the prices go. All of the companies are doing it now. Look at gas prices, in some places it is $3.99 a gallon and the national average is $3.50. Everything is going up, food, trains, cars, tickets, etc. It happens and has been happening since 2005.

It's not just the recession that is a contributing factor. The cost of producing items in China is increasing, resulting in higher prices so that companies can still make a profit.

My thomas cost ( at standard retail price when I got him about a year or 2 ago ) was $50AU it's not a big deal, just be greatful that your in america where you literally get more bang for your buck whilst my parents had to pay $95AU for Henry just about 2 months before christmas last year ( reason I know was I got to pick what I wanted for christmas from what they had availible at the time ) and you think your prices are bloated

Last time I saw a Hornby gordon in the flesh he cost $160AU and their edward was $165AU
