Title: Tracks Ahead on PBS

       How many folks have seen or watch this show?
       Have any of our forum regulars been on the show?

       This past weekend I came across two different gentlemen who have been on the show, at two different events. Neither was bragging, I had to bring up the fact that I recognised them from their segment on the show.
       I saw this as a sign to post it on our new board.

I'd like to see the Fred Dibnah series shown on PBS.

       Tom,
   None this week, I was told at Trainfest in Nov. to watch for new shows in
Feb. or March. I see Saturdays show is about the display at Chicago Museum of Science & Industry.
   Do you go to any Train shows or swap meets.

PBS do not network everything they do. Ours is still in the "Travel-logs for the State, and Cooking Shows" stage - after 40 years.

We are however getting "Last of the Summer Wine" - AGAIN, from the grave!

What is the Fred Dinbah series? I've never heard of it and I love steam.

Fred Dibnah was "a remarkable man - engineer, steeplejack, artist, craftsman, steam enthusiast, inventor and storyteller."

The BBC did a program on him bringing down an industrial brick chimney, and it was the storyteller in him that caught the audience for more. Over the years all the other sides of him came out - including divorce and meeting-up with the new girlfriend. He died in 2004 and 1000's turned up to line his funeral route in Bolton. The archtypical rascal.

His steam interest was in Road Rollers and fairground engines.

There are BBC DVD's of his series, and I have asked Netflix to list them.

I watch it every week on our local PBS station.  I've taped them for years and have a library of almost every episode.

I watch trains & locomotives but never have i heard of this show what satilitte system does it come on and what channel does it come on?

great show, i watch it every tuesday and thursday, and saturday at 5:30pm CST

         Dusten,
     PBS is the same channel that Sesame Street & Mister Rogers is on.
I don't think all PBS stations carry this program, but it is worth checking into.

You're right.  The PBS channel in Arkansas doesn't carry it.

I don't belive that it comes on in North Carolina but trains & locomotives comes on dish on RFDTV at 6:00 thats about the only train show i get to watch.

"Videos are available for all six seasons of Tracks Ahead. One entire Tracks Ahead season is available on a two disk DVD set (deleted). Tracks Ahead season six is available on a three disk DVD set for (deleted). Add (deleted) shipping & handling for each DVD. Sorry, but VHS tapes are no longer available."

Tracks Ahead is produced by Milwaukee Public Station. Your station would have to "buy" it in order to run it. NPT in Nashville runs it Saturdays at 10AM. It is in it's 6th season. DVD copies are available from HistoricRail.

The Saturday schedule is full of cooking shows.  Mostly i've seen reruns from the past 5 seasons. Some of the video is repeated in the DreamPlanBuild series.

You can see it in HD(high definition) on HDNET at 8:00am on saturday mornings
