I plan on railfanning in the winter again this year, hopefully will be out 4-5 hours like I've been doing instead of 2-3. Anyone plan on railfanning this winter? Can't beat snow shots. ;)
i live 100 feet from the mainline. i keep my scanner on all day. it's amazing how often the dog has to go for a walk when a train gets close......
in the 2 years i've lived here, i've probably seen at least one of every class of locomotive NS has, except the gensets and the caterpillar engined jobs. i am at the western end of the helper district that starts in altoona, and the rebuilt sd50s that ns now uses in helper service are a treat. as each one is released from rebuilding in altoona, it makes its way west pushing trains.....
with a location like this, i will be railfanning all winter every day no matter how cold it gets.
