Title: Wiring a ez track switch
Post by: Mfheff on December 16, 2010, 12:06:33 PM
Just purchased a "Worlds Greatest Hobby" track set.  Kit lacked switch wiring instructions.  Would appreciate assistance in proper wiring instructions.  Obviously we are very new to the hobby.

I made the same purchase along with the DCC Commander.  How about the wiring with the DCC controller?  Where do I get voltage?

Big time rookie!

DCC systems rarely have auxiliary outputs so basically, you need some other source of power.  A dc power pack will work, or a 'Wall Wart' power supply.  A wall wart looks like a fat plug with a small cable coming out of it.  Look for one rated at 12 to 16 volts at 500 milliamps to 1 amp.  AC or dc makes no difference.  The cable will probably have a small plug on the end opposite the wall wart.  Just cut it off and wire the wires to your switch motor controls.
