2002 ;)

And I believe he asked "Why"...

If you're asking why all I can say is that it's just Bachmann's way of making money on HO models.  Hornby turned around by only selling six engines and limited rolling stock and possibly Bertie and then the Hornby wind ups.  Afterwards there was no way of getting HO/OO TTTE models.  So Bachmann must have bought the rights to sell TTTE HO/OO in the US at that time.

the reason why I'm asking this is because I was always stunned by their Thomas range and I wanted to know why they decided to start making the models. Was it that they could profit from making the range or Hit asked them to or ........ And I'm wondering not criticizing

I must say though, I think that the more models Bachmann has made, the better they have gotten.

a good example would be Bill and Ben. they put rivets on the buffers and they added more detail that i didn't even know they had. i'm very impressed with these models.

Although I don't have Bill and Ben from bachmann, they look pretty darn good.
