There are many DCC on board which will run on DC and many DCC ready without decoder to run on DC.

Jim - I have a Bachmann Spectrum GE 45 Ton locomotive that has a dual mode decoder (as it came from Bachmann). This locomotive runs flawlessly on DC as well as DCC. If your 44-Ton is so equipped, it should run as well as mine. I cannot recommend this model more highly.
