If they don't announce Duck, Diesel, and/or Rosie, who else do you think it would be? Maybe Murdoch and Arthur?

Somehow I doubt Oliver would come before Duck, but you never know.

This is like the THIRD thread like this we have had its just like another wish-list thread it really isn't necessary and clutters up the board. Just post it in The Everything Thomas Topic.

It's not a Wishlist thread though, it's Toy Fair predictions.

I agree with Sparks. This can be easily put in the Everything Thomas or Bachmann 2011 threads but then they would go off track(pun intended ;D)in other words this makes it more organized.

I doubt we would see Murdoch, Hornby just released him.

Yes, but Boco isnt known to younger Thomas fans (as much as) Murdoch is. I just cant see Bachmann creating Boco, or Daisy (less so) for that matter.

Well I'm talking about the older characters that are left. I mean of course he isn't known to the younger kids because he hasn't been in an episode since season 5. But he cameoed in a 7th season song.

I'm just excited to see anything Thomas related :) Hopefully we get to see Donald & Douglas (and they hopefully have awesome faces), and Knapford station would be awesome too :)

But of stuff that we aren't expecting, I really hope there are some more characters from season 2 & 3.

No offence to those who want a bachmann oliver,But If I were you I'd just slightly modify the hornby model & then it would look like the TV series model....Sorry guys but a bachmann oliver model would not be made.(Let alone announced) Your better off with the hornby oliver. :P

If Hornby would announce an Oliver, then I don't see why Bachmann wouldn't, especially since Hornbys sells fairly well.

Besides, not everyone can just buy Hornby models online easily.

Like JJ96 said, "Don't be a downer." We won't know what is in store for us this year for one more week, as the Toy Fair is a week from today, so you never know what will be released.

I just hope Bachmann doesn't raise their prices again. They seem to have a pattern of doing that every year. :P I personally buy their products at discounted prices, not retail. However if retail goes up, the discounted prices will go up as well. :(

That's too bad. After all, Duck is only a tank engine and shouldn't be too expensive, I don't think. I don't know.

Post by: MetaDude27 on February 05, 2011, 01:13:00 PM
Yeah, that's true (thank goodness). Plus it may not be the best idea to raise prices this year, since the country is in a recession (and everyone's been saving their money).

Title: Re: Countdown to the Toy Fair and Talk

I have an addiction buying LS items.  ;D ;) Pssst.... Not really!

I don't own any TTTE LS items yet, but if Henrietta is released, she may be purcashed and used for mixed duty on my line. If a Brown Van is released as well, I may pick that up as well, but I am going to be out of cash in a few months at this rate, so maybe just Henrietta. I do have a layout I am planning for Spring and then one for next Spring. Yes that is a total of 3 lines in my backyard. I use the AristoCraft Train Engineer system and receivers are about $120(take of give a few bucks) at Nicholas Smith, where I do a lot of shopping. And so there is another $240 and I need controllers, track, and most likely a job.  :P Guess I will open my eBay store again. Anyone want some beat up HO engines for a few bucks? Lolz joking, for now.  ;)

I agree. I am hoping for, in the normal LS line, some more figures. If they don't release them, I may jsut use Playmobil figures. They are nice and cheap and I can get a 12 pack for about $8.

True that on Donald and Douglas and Knapford Station. I do also hope that Duck will be released, too.

Just watched a video on Bachmann's YouTube page for 2010 which included footage of Bill and Ben and the Large Scale James. He looks awesome. Can't wait to see this years video when they upload one :D

Awesome! That's all i can say.

That's too bad. After all, Duck is only a tank engine and shouldn't be too expensive, I don't think. I don't know.
Can you imagine if Duck was a tender engine? :P ???

I THINK THEY JUST MISED ONE THING! (im very impressed by this but it technicly counts as a handrail and they dont do them so in bachmann's mind they got everything right) the handrail coming down from the cab roof isnt there, other than that they are perfect! except for some reason the front kinda looks a little streched out, to me anyway  :)

To me the only thing i noticed it that the was less room between the front and middle wheels than the middle and back wheels...see if you notice what I mean.

That is actually very common among Europian engines like them. The two front wheels are closer together than the middle and back.

I agree that the front looks a little out-of-proportion (to me, just looks a little too tall, and sits too high of the chasis), but hey we have models! I'm happy for that!
Looking forward to getting mine...

Yeah, I figured as much - I'm not expecting em to look exactly like the images - but I'm excited to see the different facial expressions they use.

I kinda wouldn't mind each one having the faces like the ones in MetaDude27's signature. One with just a general smile, and the other with more of a super happy face :)

AJWPRODUCTIONS means:

SHUNTER, SHUNTS, SHUNTING, SHUNTED (Not "Chunt")
Definition: Shunting, in railway operations, involves the process of sorting items of rolling stock into complete train sets or consists. The United States terminology is "switching".

These were all terms used in our mega awesome cool original Thomas series by Ringo Starr and Michael Angelis (not your American crap with bad narrating and terms changed to wrong non-British terminology :P (jokes - but the British version was much better - I've watched both).

Carlin kicks Ringo's and Angelis' butts! He is the BEST of the BEST!

And he said chunt, not shunt. Shunt is a word, chunt is not. AJW said "......' He Chunted". I think what he meant might have been chanted maybe? Only word similar to chunt.

And the U.S. and UK versions are the exact same thing expect we use STF not TFC and wagons and carriages are trucks and coaches.

Don't make me laugh so much!!! Carlin's voice is no where as smooth as Starr's... he just managed to give the trains great voices! In comparing an episode such as "Saved from Scrap", I couldn't handle the way Carlin was narrating it - he just sounded horrible. Carlin is just a comedian... Starr is a singer so his voice is a lot better to listen to.

But yeah, I guess AJW meant "CHANTED" but you could've just explained that to him straight away instead of making fun of him... But I guess kids love to pick on everyone...

It's an easy misunderstanding of how SH and CH sound. :)

Or maybe the Australian subtitles are misspelling it?

"Starr's ability to do women's voices on Thomas the Tank Engine are just about as great as his drumming and singing skills!"(Saying he was just as bad as women's voices as he was drumming and singing) That is from a British talk show! He was not the best singer, not the best drummer, and definatly not better than Carlin. Carlin is a comedian, one heck of a comedian, and the best TTTE narrator on Earth. Have any of you met Starr? No, oh so sad! I met Carlin and he was very polite and nice. He said he would have signed something for me, but he had to finish a scene. Don't think Starr would do that..........  Lolz.

No, oh so sad! I met Carlin and he was very polite and nice. He said he would have signed something for me, but he had to finish a scene. Don't think Starr would do that..........  Lolz.
Lolz? Stop being silly. I don't care if I got something signed. I'm not one of those psycho fans that go crazy and need something like that. I just enjoy the good job they do and leave it at that. Whoever said that about Starr are idiots, because the voices that he did for women were supposed to be funny (especially Daisy) he gave her such an awesome stubborn voice :P but it's not all about doing women's voice - the narrating in general was better... but I guess to Australians, all Americans sound arrogant.

Though I just went through the "You Can't Win" episode and couldn't find anything about "chunt", "shunting", or "chanting" :/

And I guess to Americans, Australians are all jail birds due to the history of how the country was founded? Joking  ;)

Oh and there were about 10 people who agreed with the guy who said that. And almost everyone I know agrees. My favorites narrators are as fallows-
1) Carlin
2) Starr
3) Baldwin

And I was not a psycho fan. I was a  6 year old kid who recognized Mr. Conductor. However, I am a psycho fan of The Office. ;D

Title: Re: Countdown to the Toy Fair and Talk

Not to wise to call Bachmann stupid.

They can announce it how they like. They might have to follow guidelines we don't know about. They might have a limit to the amount they can announce each day, no way of us knowing.

Nothing is offical yet because Bachmann has made no announcements yet. We don't know which models are coming until Bachmann confirms it.

He wasn't calling Bachmann stupid though. He was simply saying the idea of the process of announcements is stupid. But I just believe it build up the suspense... but don't get your hopes up, coz that's when you get disappointed.

All we can do is simply wait for the NEWS and then be glad we got something at all. Remember HiT are in control of how much merchandise can be released each year... they're obviously also investing money too. Let's just all be patient shall we :D

i sure hope that the knapford sation kit is a prototype picture, seing how there is only one line per platform and were would we get the Knapford building on the sides of it? and also u think they'd make a knapford signalbox, without it no trains would be aloud to run

sorry for double post but what about lines 3&4? (i think those are the ones) the ones with the buffers at the end of it how will we get that? and im pretty sure the brickwork isnt orange  :-\

bachmann please consider the points i just said, and try to improve it :)
Title: Re: Countdown to the Toy Fair and Talk

There are 6 lines that run through Knapford. The new wooden one has 4 lines(double) and I think 4 platforms. The old one only had 2 lines and on platform in the middle.

It would make sense to have some type of building with it, even a small one would work.

As the product description says:

More kits can be combined to make larger station configurations.

Looks ok. I agree more would have to be bought to make a better knapford, but please remember that these are aimed at younger kids than the majority of the people who post here I believe. They are just meant to resemble, not be the exact accurate building, otherwise the price would be astranomical!

Regarding V day, remember that its full title is St. Valentine's Day, and it was originally created by the church as a memorial holiday for Valentine (he was martyred) and to replace a Roman pagan festival of love (just a little history lesson for you). I don't think Hallmark existed back then! :P But yeah, I understand where you guys are coming from. Personally, I like the cards and the candy (from my parents :P)! I only wish holidays like this were remembered for their origins, not the material stuff. (Be prepared for a history lesson on St. Pat's Day! :P Just kidding.)

Regarding the "non-release" of Duck, as to quote Darth Vader: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" :'(

He just put stars, didn't say anything offensive.  ::)

And I would stop saying you "hate HiT" or "HiT is ruining Thomas" because they might be watching the forum. Who knows what they are doing. The more complaining you do about them, the worse you make Bachmann look because it is on their forums. And the last thing any of us want is for Bachmann to lose the rights. So lets get off the topic of bashing HiT. They are a company too and have to make money just like everyone else. The whole world is in a ressecion now and we are all struggling to back a few bucks.

I just wish they started making these models a lot early, coz then by now we'd have all the classic engines long before the CG series made an appearance. Ah well, at least Diesel and Donald and Douglas are something to look forward to :)

Just think, the more characters that are out of the way (i.e. Diesel), the closer we are to getting the ones everyone else wants :D

Yes, yes they are!

Lets stop wallowing over Duck and be happy we got anything! The whole world is poor right now! Well, besides Opera.

So lets get of the topic of bashing HiT. They are a company too and have to make money just like everyone else. The whole world is in a ressecion now and we are all struggling to back a few bucks.
its pretty much the same as what dtst got banned for plus I'd be careful to as if hit arent going to let bachmann sell thomas just because of people like me look I'd rather avoid an argument espicially since you and I have been aurguing alot anyway and on another note GET OFF MY CASE

Oprah* And yes, I can't believe how crazy the rest of the country went when she was here in Australia recently... I could've cared less :P

But yes, I am almost completely poor after spending 2K or more on the Bachmann Thomas range.

Yes! Stop bashing HiT constantly! It is ok to do it once or twice, but not all day! It is in the code of conduct that you should not trash other compainies and their products here because they are not here to defend themselves. Just back off HiT. The 5 year olds out there now are different then the 5 year olds that were around 10-20 years ago! If you don't like it, don't watch it! Simple as that!

I thought I might have spelled her name wrong. She is loaded and if she wanted could buy Thomas, hmmm. *NOTE TO SELF: Call Oprah*  ;D

No but HiT does, I just watches some newer stuff on TV and hearing the "Engine Rocall" made me mad because, "Theyre 2 theyre 4 theyre 6 and 8." WHEN DUCK IS NOT EVEN THERE!!!

Well, there's definitely some reason why Duck, Oliver, and the Scottish Twins (along with other characters) have been cut out of the show. I only wish I knew what it was... That might dull some of the pain. (But then again it might make it worse! :P)

You can't blame HiT for Emily. You have to blame the parent activist groups who said Thomas & Friends was "sexist" because there were no main female engines and if HiT didn't change it, they would file a lawsuit. So basicly it was make Emily or lose millions of dollars and possible go bankrupt. What would you choose if you were the CEO of HiT? I would make Emily to save everyone's jobs.

HiT does not hate Duck, the just can't use him as often as we would like.

I would make it Rosie the main girl character than Emily.

That statement is exaggerated a fair bit. Emily hasn't exactly been a character people look up to, and then in CGI roles has been given feminine roles, some even close to sexist (the one about laundry especially!).

Well the creation of Emily came out of the lawsuit scare. I'm not quite sure what goes on now in the series since I don't watch it.
