Title: DCC-Equipped?
Post by: hdaniecki on February 16, 2011, 08:18:58 PM
DCC-Equipped Motive Power
OK maybe I've been away from trains for a while.
Will these DCC locomotives work with an old fashioned HO tranformer from 1985?
Do I need a different power pack?

It's hard to say for certain without knowing the exact loco you are asking about, but the general answer would be yes. Most modern DCC decoders will allow you to operate on DC but that isn't true for all of them. Also, some of the decoders which permit operation on DC may not do so if someone has set a CV for DCC only operation. However, you can reset that CV or remove the decoder for DC operation. If all of that isn't confusing enough, there are a couple of proprietary digital control systems on the market which may not operate on DC.

I'm sorry to be so vague but it isn't possible to give a definitive answer without more information.
