I hope Bachmann gives him a sinister face, not one of those pansy smiles you see him with in the newer seasons.

Either sinister or devious.

Post by: MetaDude27 on February 24, 2011, 10:49:30 AM
Oh yeah, "devious" was the word I was looking for! ("Sinister" sounds too dark for Thomas & Friends.)

Hopefully Bachmann would use this face (or something close to it).

He will probley be smiling so he doesn't scare kids, thats one reason his personality is so different now.

i personnaly think the bachmann Diesel will be a "Fail" because the cab is most likely going to be closed, the face will either be his really happy face or his CGI face, the side rods will (99%) be black because bachmann is now being "up to date" (look at D&D's nameplates and u'll see what i mean) and the buffers wont be sprung like on mine, so i most likely will get the bachmann diesel but slap on a RWS face and paint the buffers silver becasue if it looks like how i just described it here, there will be NOOOOO chance it will be a model running around my layout for more than 5 minitues :(

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. (sigh) Oh well.

Maybe they could use this face:

He's smiling, so it wouldn't scare kids, and it still shows a hint of deviousness.

Actually, Sid can be a nickname for a girl. I know of a girl, not personally, who is called Sid by the people who know here. I also have a 3rd cousin named Sidney who goes by Sid.

In defense of the TTTE wiki, they quickly undo every false edit made to their site. They deal with a lot of that, but still bring the best info to the table. Sometimes, they beat out SiF.

Some of the diesels in DOTD aren't bad. I know Paxton isn't, and I don't think Dart is either, so I'm guessing that Salty and Mavis aren't actually against the steamies, but they're just a little p-oed that their works aren't really getting any attention. But the Dieselworks confuses me because plenty of diesels go to the Steamworks.
Title: Re: Diesel Thread
Post by: Cirkit:) on March 19, 2011, 09:30:33 PM
I bet the photo SodorAdventures is referring to is the one on the cover of the DVD.. same lineup of engines was also used on the "Ultimate Diesel Guide" too. I think it's just showing off the various diesels from all ends of the good vs bad spectrum. I do not think however that Salty and Mavis (currently the only good diesels on Sodor) will be involved with the nasty diesel's tricks. But with HiT, you never know..

AS for HO Diesel, I'd like to see him with black coupling rods. Side rods. Whatever.  It is his current look one fan, and I think they make him look more oily and stealthy. I would like to see his mold remade into Arry and Bert, but I imagine it would be some time before Bachmann could properly duplicate and modify the mold...

Oh, and Diesel should be smiling. or have that neutral scowl we all love ^^
Title: Re: Diesel Thread
Post by: TheJJ on March 20, 2011, 09:37:21 AM
Well this is the Diesel Thread I see nothing wrong with talking about Day of the Diesels (DOTD). So how many Diesels are there now in this movie?
Diesel, Mavis, Arry and Bert, Diesel 10, Salty, Den, Dart, Sidney, Paxton, Norman. 11!!!
And don't forget they still don't have....
Splatter, Dodge, Daisy, Derek, BoCo, The Diesel (from Bowled Out), Rusty, Dennis, etc...
Thats alot of diesels.
But maybe HiT should introduce more diesels, cuz think about it how many steam trains do you see now adays? Not alot. Thats why they bring diesels to show a little modernization.
Title: Re: Diesel Thread
Post by: ThomasFan247 on March 20, 2011, 10:19:44 AM
Apparently, Norman is Dennis' twin brother, so we can expect Dennis to eventually return. I think we can also expect Daisy, Boco, and the other diesels that were included in the Ultimate Diesel Guide. Them being mentioned shows that they aren't forgotten. ALSO, some of the diesels in the guide are included in current magazine stories (for example, the Bowled Out diesel was included in a 2010 story; Dennis and Boco were seen in a magazine story from 2008 I believe).

BUT the thread is called Diesel Thread. If it was called HO Devious Diesel Thread, that would be totally different. All the conversation that's been going on in this thread is related to the topic. It's no big deal. If it bothers you that bad, change the name of the thread to something that permits talk of only the upcoming release of Bachmann's Devious Diesel. If this was for other diesels, I'd think it was called the "Diesels Thread". Maybe the title will have to be changed.

Now, back to Diesel, I recieved my 2011 Bachmann catalogue and it listed its price at US$77, the same price as Donald and Douglas. I think that's rather too much, what do you think?

It dose sound expensive but I think you'll be able to get him cheaper elsewere. I'm not to worried becuase I'm in the UK. so it I'll probbaly be able to get him for about £30 compared to the hornby price which is around £50. Bachmann rule.

When you compare the range to standard models, you do get a fair bit more in the value department. $77 isn't too bad for a RTR model.

It's probably untrue or it's going to be like Bill and Ben; pushed back and back forever leaving us in suspense forever

Has anyone heard any updates about the Bachmann Diesel? Maybe has a prototype photo surfaced? I am quite excited for this model, but the tension is starting to get annoying.

So its been 3 days or so since the first Diesel came to light. Personally I like the over all look, the only thing that puts me off is the CGI face. But he looks like 1 day he could transition into the Large scale range.

Regarding a prototype pic, as you may know, there's one on Page 3 of the HO Thomas & Friends trains. Also, the picture is on the TTTE Wikia.

@CaptainJackSparrowfan98: lol

Now regarding Diesel, maybe his face won't be exactly like the prototype picture. After all, one of Sodoradventures' videos shows Donald and Douglas at the WGH train show in February and their faces don't look exactly like the prototype pictures.

yes they do. they just look different because of the camera angle.

Yeah, they look the same. I saw them in person and they look exactly like the prototype pictures. His camera made it look different.

I reckon Diesel will have the black side-rods since Bachmann base the newer HO characters from their recent appearance in the model series.

Well, based on the current pictures of the model, silver side rods he has.

Beautiful model. I now have 5 models on my list. (I still haven't purchased Bill and Ben.  ::))

I like the new Diesel model too. I think it's the first model from Bachmann which has more details than the Hornby model. I wish he has a strong motor. I think the Hornby face isn't much better than the Bachmann one. But you're all right: it isn't the best face. Bachmann should make different faces wich you could change.

I disagree. Almost all of Bachmann's models have more TV Series details than Hornby's models. I guess you could say Hornby has more RWS accurate details than Bachmann.

My opinion on Diesel is that it is simply amazing. In all honesty I can't imagine it without the picture and another thing I think the CGI face is quite fitting. Plus its detail is amazing so Bachmann thank you. Although if the picture is only a prototype and the face does become a classic I will be just as satisfied if not more. ;)
