Got my first 0-4-2 with sound the other day and it ran pretty good, but had some spots that it would stall out due to loss of pickup.
I added pickups to the trailing truck and it has improve greatly, but would like to persue the idea of adding a keep alive capacitor the the Tsuinami and looking for the way to do it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

1: where are you going to stow it? You will need at least a 1000 uF/25V C. they are big!
2: where are you going to connect the C? Not in front of the decoder , you will distroy the digital signal.
Over the motor you will need a bi polar C (expensive if availlable) because of the polarity switch when going forwards or backwards.
You can't use an electrolytic C ( the one used with the Tsunami) because it has polarity.

You CAN use an electrolytic capacitor! See the info provided here: http://members.optusnet.com.au/mainnorth/alive.htm (http://members.optusnet.com.au/mainnorth/alive.htm)
It's pretty well detailed out and SoundTrax also has info on their website.
mabloodhound you are correct , it will work if you use it in the electronic circuit. but not outside.
I was thinking the old way........
