Hello,
Does anyone know what type of couplers are found on these cars?
http://athearn.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ATH93094
I broke a coupler and can't find that Athearn sells couplers.
I'm looking for the type/name of the coupler and the manufacturer.
Thanks,
C. Jackson
You can order direct from this manufacturer/distributor - they own Athearn - or your hobby shop can get them from Horizon.

Reading this on that page would have answered your question:
QuoteHO RTR Coalporter w/Load, CSX/Silver #7 (5)
Key Features
Fully assembled and ready for your layout
Factory installed wire grab irons
Removable cast coal load in each car
Five different road numbers in each package
Machined RP25 profile metal wheels
McHenry scale knuckle spring couplers installed
Take 12 seconds to plug McHenry scale knuckle spring couplers in to Google and there's your answer.
You might want to upgrade to Kadee #5's. I am slowly replacing all mine with Kadee's as they function better when uncoupling.

to add to what jerry said, kadee also makes a #148 which is easier to install.
in a nutshell, the problem with the plastic knuckle couplers is that the often break or bend. ugrading to metal ones means you will probably never have to replace a coupler again. i use the plastic ones that come with the cars until they fail, then replace them with metal ones.
