Title: sound decoder for On30 2-6-0
Post by: chuckwagon on November 28, 2011, 01:27:18 AM
I have a 2-6-0 I would like to put a sound decoder in. I have done many decoder installations so that is not the problem. I need some help getting into the loco.
I see the latch under the cab, but the shell is held in the front and I can't see how to release it.
Has anyone taken one of these apart?

I used the steps on the pacific coast liner website if you follow them step by step you will have no problems and a clean looking install.http://www.pacificcoastairlinerr.com/ (http://www.pacificcoastairlinerr.com/)

In fact, please follow Harold Minkwitz´s recommendations at Pacificcoastairliner.com
Harold did a wonderful job to determine how to get the 2-6-0 apart.

Small decoders will fit into the engines body here. For a safer electric pickup you may want to add wipers to the tender trucks and connect them to the decoder. This is a bit of extra work but worth the effort!

Cheers, Tom ;) ;) ;)
