Title: dd40ax with dcc not working with EZ command
Post by: mjdline on December 06, 2011, 05:59:59 PM
I bought the bachmann dd40ax with dcc not too long ago. It works on dc but not on dcc.
I tried both the bachmann EZ command and Digitrax with no luck.
I've tried a 1000 ohm resistor across the tracks: nothing.
I even tried tossing on a lighted car (I read on here that it worked for them) and still doesnt work.
I opened it up and it does have the decoder installed.

Any help/suggestions are apreciated

Try a factory decoder reset.
This CV8=8 with the Digitrax system. It's what I use.
Then reprogram the decoder to the engine number you want.
This is what I do if I can find no other problem for an engine not working.
For the EZ Command I am not sure if it is the same CV for a factory reset.

Hi!

Reset does not depend on the DCC system you are using but just the decoder settings. You want to reset the decoder to the standard factory values. CV8 to 8 schould reset the decoder and the loco usually answers to address 3. If not you might call again!

If it works on DC but not DCC, you may be using the wrong address. New engines come with loco address set to 3. Sometimes the simplest things are overlooked. If someone programmed the address to something else a reset will bring it back to 3. Good luck.
