Title: Bachmann Big Hauler 90-0100 R/C Battery operated
Post by: pck254 on December 08, 2011, 10:57:24 PM
I have a used 90-0100 R/C that I cannot get to run. I have inserted new batteries both in the engine and a 9 volt in the tender. The R/C transmitter LED is showing red, however, the engine does not run nor does the sound work. Help! and thanks.

The chuff chuff sound works only when the locomotive is moving.  So the problem comes down to "why is the locomotive not moving?"

Some of the things to check:
- are all the batteries in the proper way around?
- are the battery contacts clean (both inside the boiler and on the metal piece on the backhead?)
- are the receiver and the transmitter the same frequency?  There were two different frequencies used.  They were originally marked on the transmitters and on the undersides of the locomotives.
- does the transmitter still have its telescoping antenna?

If the answers to all of the above questions are "yes," then there is probably a problem with either the transmitter or the receiver.
