O.K. here is my wish list for 2012.

1.Baldwin 8-18-c 4-4-0

2. logging disconects

3. AH&D log loader and ditcher(powered)

4.2-6-2

and lets don't forget the EBT!

Forgot to say that number 4 is any of the Sandy River 2-6-2 engines. These where beautiful little engines and in my opinion would mix very well with the existing Bachmann engines.

8-18c 4-4-0
8-18d 2-6-0
c-16 2-8-0 1800s version not the over rated Colorado 1930s version.

EBT 2-8-2
SRRL 2-6-2 or SS&S or even EBT #11

BUILDINGS! We need some realistic building, and track would be great too!

Rounded roof Caboose with a higher coupola
rounded roof box car,

Basically anything from the 1870s-1909 will work for me and make me happy!

Rock On!

Honestly, I wish for two things:

1. An upgrade to the 2-6-0. I'm sorry, but I have one and the smoke stack and headlight on that thing bother me so much 'cause I've never seen a prototype do that!

2. Much more diversity in the steam locomotives. You basically have six models the just get the colour scheme changed every year with a featured locomotive (like the shays) that come out once a catolog. I'm looking for something unique from you guys, like a 2-4-2 or somethn'. We need it to be creative though.

I have to agree with Dustin on the buildings! That is a great idea! Most of the kits are extremely high in cost,or I have to scratchbuild the rest. That is ok if you are retired, but alot of us are not, and time to work on the layout is sometimes hard to find. Don't get me wrong ,I love to spend time scratch building stuff, but a nice, affordable kit is nice too! The field is wide open here as to what  Bachmann could make. Water tanks, Depots, Small houses, etc. (A plug for ET&WNC hoppers here too) They had ALOT of those, and they were short enough to use on many other layouts also. I hope the Bachmann is listening....     Dwayne

Put me down with a vote for SR&RL # 24.  Also an inside frame 2-6-2 that can be issued as both a tender and tank engine.  This would give B-man more bang for the engineering buck.

Fred,

The Bachmann mogul is a copy of the Colorado & Southern engine 22 roughly modeled sometimes after 1905 to about 1917.

The stack is C&S as is the headlight. The stack and headlight is a easy change which makes this model so fun to bash.

What i would really like would be a larger, conventional (not a Forney or articulated) tank locomotive than the Porters. A 2-6-2t, 0-62t or 2-4-2t would be fine.  I suspect that a SR&RL tender 2-6-2 is more likely, but perhaps both the tender and a tank version could be made. A tank version of a SR&RL 2-6-2 may not have an exact prototype, but would certainly pass as a catalogue locomotive (Baldwin's  system would have allowed a tank version to be ordered) and would be reminiscent of locos that operated in Hawaii, Mexico and other places.

I would also like to see buildings, as well as Railroad and trackside items, perhaps a few mining and logging structures, many people build mining and logging On30 layouts or incorporate a mine or sawmill into a larger layout.

Bachmann makes Plasticville O scale buildings already and if you have a knack for a little cutting and repainting they can be rather useful in our make believe world.

Oh. I had no idea. I didn't pay much attention to the C&S when I got interested in narrow gauge prototypes. And thanks for the Yahoo groups! I'll go and check them out!

The C&S engines would need a upgrade to the correct cab and tender plus DCC-ready...

What about a C&S No.74 plus the RGS No.74...?

Cheers, Tom

Tom, What era are you modeling?   The cab on the mogul is correct for a C&S mogul after the rebuilds to extended smoke box on most of the moguls. If you want to back date one then try a PSC 4 panel C-16 cab(round roof).

I would like to see a upgrade simply because I have not yet gone to DCC and if Bachmann produced them then I guess I would take the plunge. The only problem with a upgrade is that presenty the mogul is a fraily inexpensive engine to kit bash and that is what make this part of O narrow gauge so much fun. :D

A larger shay, Near where I live these shays were everywhere in the woods working for the W.M. Ritter lumber company. They were big shays for narrow gauge, but they looked great!

I second that!

I love Shays, but the existing T-boiler is (in my opinion) a spindly-looking excuse for some of the beefier Shays that so dominated the private logging and mining lines.

Let's have some bulk and strength as our motive power!

Shays Rock!

Yep... That's it.  Those little T-boiler shays would have never made it here in Western North Carolina! Or East Tennessee! The lumber was heavy and the grades were tough by any standards.      :o

Ya know wht? I think that the boiler on the forney (from smoke to fire box) is excellent. But I'm not sure I like the forney. Maybe you guys (Bachmann) could use the boiler on a model that looks like this: http://www.railroad-line.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=20279&whichpage=29. Something small, but nice looking.

Well, folks,

a bigger and more "modern" Shay would be to my taste.

Apart from the several brass models, there are not that much On3/On30 shays on the market.
I had converted two Bachmann Shays with the brass kits from Keith Wiseman to Gilpin lookalikes and the other to a 1920 style shay, which changes everything.

C´mon Bachmann you can do it. Give those ol´ Loggers out there another geared engine...
I would love to see a WSLco shay...

or, what about a 2-6-6-2 logger like your Fn3 model? That would make my day...

Cheers, Tom ;) ;) ;)

I think a larger shay would be no problem if Bachmann solves the gear problem and a three truck climax ans WOW!,just put a four whell bogie under the present caboose and it will change the whole model

Don't forget the RGS 74 and the Msaon Bogie.

I would be happy just to get a locomotive that runs right out of the box without having to call parts to fix it before it even makes a run around the layout.  I would even pay more for this.  Hear that BMann?  I'd pay more for a reliable loco.

Hi Everyone,
Even though I model the Colorado Railroads, I would love to see Bachmann do the Tasmanian Garrat, K-1 that has been fully restored, and is running on the Welsh Highlands Railway.
It is a nice neat little loco, and would be similar in size to a lot of what Bachmann has donealready.
It is also NOT a gear driven loco so that should eliminate THAT problem!!
I believe it was the first Garratt, so would probably arouse a lot of interest.

I think a Garrett would be a neat item, though it would be largely aimed at the international market.  I'll put in another plug for a small, non-Colorado 2-8-0 - the Lawndale locos No. 4 and No. 5.  They were built in the early 1900's and lasted into the late 1940's.  Go here for a pic:  http://digital.denverlibrary.org/cdm/singleitem/collection/p15330coll22/id/76949/rec/6

Totally off  topic  there is  another  Garratt currently in the development  stage, due  out later  this  year but it in  UK  00 gauge  and is a large 2-6-6-2  BR ( Ex LMS) loco.  see  www.ehattons.com   click on Heljan on home page.

Forgot to add that Keith Wiseman offeres the old Durango Press On3 handcar and it is beautiful and definetly worth the price!
The model is easly gauged to On30 and is made of white metal and wood. You will need a pin vise and a set of drill bits, but it is a fun kit to build and adds intrest to any scene.
Keith has reintroduced most all of the old classic kits and he has even worked out the bugs for you.

Naturally, as I'm frpom Tasmania, I'd love a Tasmanian Garratt,
BUT,
I think thats, almost certainly 'A Wish Too Far"  :)
But, hopefully, a wish that's within the realms of possibility would be for a On30 version of the HO scale Jackson Sharp Open-Sided Excursion Car with Seats.

Precision Scale Co., Inc. also has On3 Buda Type I handcar kits, either in brass or plastic.  They can be regauged to On30.  I purchased the plastic version, and the detail is very fine.  However, even though both kits are described a "working", I think even the brass handcar might be too fragile for usage.  See:

http://psc1.virtualfocus.com/cgi-bin/VirtualCatalog3/CatalogMgr.pl?cartID=b-8585&SearchField=category&SearchFor=KIT-1X&template=kits.htx&hdr=On3%20Passenger/Freight%20Car%20Kits%20-%20Order%20Online%20Now!

Sorry for the absurdly long link -- instead go to Precision Scale's home page ( http://psc1.virtualfocus.com/ ), hit the "Kits" button, then choose "On3 Passenger/Freight" in the pulldown menu.

Anubis and Frank S

I am fron Canberra and I too would love a Tasmanian Garratt, but I don't think it is likely, although it would have some appeal in the UK as the surviving  2 foot gauge Garratt is on a preserved Welsh line. (It should be returned to Tasmania!)

With excursion cars I would prefer the other (non Jackson Sharpe) car made by Bachmann in HO,  but either, or preferably both, would be nice.

Hamish, don't leave out the Garrat. People on this side of the pond like them also and I use to see them kit bashed using the old HOn3 Round House 2-8-0's  in the 1980's in the Gazette and they were nice!
Don't forget that the Rio Grande once used a British engine so the Garrat would make a great ,what if model. ;D

A 8-18d 2-6-0 would be Ideal to have for On30. The engine is easily convertable to a 4-4-0. It's like having two engines in one. I think On30 needs some RTR engines that are from the 1800s. It would match up with their rolling stock quite nicely. If B-mann continues to produce more modern equipment, then why not start updating the rollingstock as well? Even though I'm not a fan of more modernization, it would make more sense to match the engines with period rollingstock.

IMHO, I don't believe Bachmann would make an engine built by a different nation; but I can be wrong. I'm not a huge fan of a garrett engine, or anything that's not an alco, or baldwin built engine.

Bachmann is a world wide industry and already makes a whole line of European engines. A garratt would not be out of line to make. The problem is that it may not get marketed in the USA, and be hard to get.

nothing quirky, esoteric or funky, just a plain old steam engine...maybe something like the Georgetown Loop's No.12, maybe with a standard tender or (dare I say it) a D&RG Class 45 or 47 (later T-12)

My number one choice for the 2012 Wish List was going to be a new diesel, but then today I discovered that Mount Blue Model Company has recently added two new On30 diesel bodies that fit over HO scale mechanisms. These will be a quicker modification than Mount Blue's original diesel shell that required a regauged and more expensive S scale mechanism. If you are not familiar with this company, visit www.mountbluemodelco.com and see all of the passenger car, freight car and caboose kits that turn basic Bachmann bodies into entirely different On30 cars. Look through the entire list at the "rolling stock" button. I have no ties to Mount Blue---they are in Massachusetts and I am in Oregon---other than being a satisfied customer.

Back then everybody kept arguing about minimun radius so I think that had alot to do with killing this project.
I wish Bachmann would consider this as they already have the information. ::)
