Title: #4 turnout, why won't track connect to it?
Post by: GoCanes on February 05, 2012, 11:53:08 AM
I have the 44558 # 4 turnout, and the ez track will not connect to it, there is no cut out of the roadbed, so the pieces won't fit.

What is the deal with this?

Thanks,

GoCanes

You will have to take one of the pieces that connect next to the other ( does not matter which side) and cut the side out. I usually use a dremel for this. It cuts very easily so if you don't have a dremel tool you can cut it with a hacksaw, wire snips, razor knife,etc..
I cut from the top to the bottom about 2inches diagonally. The #5's are the only one's I know of that come with a 2 1/4 section prescribed  to break away.

Or you can buy  2-1/2"  straight track  flip it over  look for the  diagonal indentations  and either bend or cut away  at that location to remove the roadbed from the track.  It does look better if you match the angle & cut with a saw .  J2.

Thanks guys.

Why would they do this?  I understand not.

Oh well, it is fixed.

the #4 turnouts are a fairly recent addition to the line of turnouts . The others either didn't require it . However some of the crossings also require removal of the roadbed.  J2
