Title: n-scale 2-10-0
Post by: n-scale chesapeake & ohio on February 12, 2012, 11:46:33 AM
when looking at some websites under spectrum products i noticed that they listed 2-10-0s but stated that they were never made. i am just curious to know wether or not they will come out eventually. it would also be neat to see an alleheny and three truck shay with DCC.

The Russian Decapod was announced a good half-decade ago but put on hold supposedly due to the lack of a small-enough motor. Now that the 4-6-0 and the 44 Tonner have been released, the motor problem would seem to have been solved. I for one wold love to see the release of the Decapod, but in retrospect, the Horribly Oversized version was a dud sales-wise;  (you would find them on the web at fire-sale prices where ever you looked) so I somehow doubt that Bachmann is going to release it in N  scale... :'(

The 2-10-0 they planned was a Russian Decapod with very small drivers and boiler. They were originally built for Russia but a the revolution happened before they could take delivery so the loco's were reconfigured for use in the US and sold to US roads.  It was primarily used as a road switcher.

I don't know if Bachmann will do it or not. The coreless motor used in the 4-6-0 may be small enough but as mentioned, they didn't sell well in HO. I would probably buy one, only because I am addicted to steam and I think I could convert it to something close to the BR&P 2-10-0 that ended up on the B&O.
