Title: Colorado and Southern
Post by: YellowHillsCentral on March 10, 2012, 01:23:42 AM
Does anyone know any good sources for the Colorado and Southern Railroad online? It seems as though everybody spends their time with the more favoured Denver and Rio Grande  :'(

Thanks
CJLM

There is a ton of stuff out there, just Google it and you will get lots of hits. There are lots of images as well and articles with images.  To get more specific you can narrow the search.

also here is a partial list of books I used to have:

Bayou Salado: The Story of South Park (Revised Edition), by Virginia McConnell Simmons. Fred Pruett Books. 1966, 1992. Paperback. 279 pages.

C & S ng (Colorado & Southern Narrow Gauge) by Mallory Hope Ferrell. Pruett Publishing Company. 1981. First Edition, First printing.

Central City and Gilpin County (Then and Now). by Robert L. Brown. The Caxton Printers, Ltd. 1994.

Georgetown and the Loop, by P.R. "Bob" Griswold, Richard H. Kindig and Cynthia Trombly. Rocky Mountain Railroad Club. 1988. First Edition, 2d printing.

Georgetown Pictorial: An Illustrated Story of a Colorado Mining Town, by Benjamin Draper. 1964. Old West Publishing Company. Paperback. 32 pages.

Goin' Railroading, by Margaret Coel (as told to Sam Speas). University Press of Colorado. 1985, 1991, 1998. Paperback. 180 pages.

My Rocky Mountain Valley, by James Crafton Rogers. Pruett Press, Inc. 1968. A one-year diary of life in the Georgetown-Silver Plume area.

Narrow Gauge Pictorial: Colorado & Southern Freight and Passenger Cars, by Derrell W. Poole and Kenneth W. Martin. Paperback. 224 pages.

Narrow Gauge Pictorial: Motive Power of the Colorado & Southern, by George L. Coleman. 1986. Robert L. Grandt. Paperback. 224 pages.

Narrow Gauge to Central and Silver Plume: Route of the Famed Georgetown Loop. (Colorado Rail Annual Number 10) by Cornelius W. Hauck, The Colorado Railroad Museum, 1972. 4th printing.

The South Park Line: A Concise History, (Colorado Rail Annual Number 12) by Gordon S. Chappell, Robert W. Richardson and Cornelius W. Hauck, The Colorado Railroad Museum, 1974. First Edition.

The Story of Silver Plume, by M. Hazel Howe. 1960. Butler Graphics. Paperback. 38 pages.

Up Clear Creek on the Narrow Gauge (Modeling the Colorado & Southern), by Harry W. Brunk. Benchmark Publications Ltd. 1990. 2d printing.

The Mallory Hope Ferrell book alone is a monumental work about the narrow gauge C&S, and the Colo RR museums books are incredible resources as well.
