Title: What turnout number are the older Bachmann turnouts?
Post by: ozrallyats on May 21, 2012, 06:32:51 AM
Hello,

I have some older turnouts (item No. 44665- before they went to EZ track)  that I need to match with newer turnouts, but the Bachmann package doesn't identify whether it is a #4 or a #6 type turnout (or something else).  I need matching turnouts for the layout, since they are being used in a crossover.

Also, were there ever under-the-table motors designed for these switches?

Thanks,

Andrew

Dear Andrew,
Your best bet is to replace the old track with EZ Track so it will all match.
Have fun!

Thanks Bachmann, but that didn't really answer the question, since the EZ track turnouts come with different divergences.  I noticed the basic ones don't have a number either, they just say that the curve is 11.25 radius.  Am I correct in assuming that is the right one?

Dear Andrew,
A turnout with a radius is not a numbered turnout. 11 3/4 " is correct for the short turnouts. A number four diverges one unit for four units of run; a number six diverges one in six.
