On my Climax I used the mrc 8amp decoder, as of course it has leads for 2 motor units.  i would say however if you are going to use it it does , at certain speeds, Hum, but as i fitted a soundtraxx dsx i no longer hear the hum

Most DCC manufactures have a 'recomended' list at their web sites.  I have used both NCE and Digitrax decoders in the area of 4 to 5 amps no problem, both with and without an additoinal sound unit.

I used the Digitrax 583S on mine and it works great!

No problems, but for some reason, every 583S I have used has the F0F and F0R reversed (forward light/reverse light), and I know others have mentioned that as well.  No biggie though - if you wire it correct and it works backwards, you can simply reprogram it.

If you are willing to wait a few months, Soundtraxx is supposed to come out with an 8 amp Tsunami eventually (at least according to Litchfield's newsletter).

Hope that helps!
