Title: DCC Spectrum units: can DCC be removed?
Post by: lou63 on August 20, 2012, 05:56:03 PM
with the spectrum locomotives like 44 tonner, 70 tonner and 45 tonner being equipped with DCC, is it possible to remove the DCC compenents from the GE locomotive models easily? the reason i am asking is my locomotives are all DC models.

The decoders in these units should be dual mode. They will work on DC or DCC.

That is the easiest way because of the decoder design.

45 ton. Look at the link. Possible.

44 ton. Possible. When you remove the decoder, there should be two clips to convert to DC.

70 ton. Much more difficult to convert to DC.

If you take time to look up the loco diagrams, you can get a pretty good idea of what is inside the loco.

Minor detail. The 44 ton and 70 ton are now Standard Line.
