I just purchased 2 55 Ton Three-Truck Shays (1:20.3 Large Scale) and when placed on the track with juice turned on, they will not operate. I am thinking they have a switch somewhere for track or battery power but no instructions were supplied to inform me of this. I feel a little stupid for asking but can someone help me with this? I am using a Bridgeworks Magnum 10 amp transformer to power the track.
Try opening the smoke box door. I do not have that engine,but on some of their engines they have the switches there.

It would help if you would let us know exactly which models (Bachmann Item Number) of the 3 truck Shay you purchased. There are both DCC and DCC ready models of this locomotive.
