Title: sound decoder
Post by: geomaciii on December 14, 2012, 12:03:27 PM
I have the Bachman HO Spectrum Cavalier set with the J 4-8-4  611 N&W engine. It has DCC but no sound. I would like to know where I can get the sound decoder/device to add sount to this unit. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

N&W Class J 4-8-4    TSU-1000 Southern Steam    826121   810054/ 810110

Get the 8 pin to 9 pin adapter. Look at the below site on how to do this. You will only have to solder the two speaker wires.
I am assuming you have experience at doing this.
There are links within the below link.

Click on Litchfield Station for ordering the parts. Bachmann use SoundTraxx is why I recommend it.

Some will insist you rip out all the wiring and hard wire with resistors for the LED's. If you have the experience, go for it.
I have done in the 4-4-0 and 4-6-0 with small tender only because the decoder and speaker would not fit.
This loco tender will not be an issue.
