Title: great northern tender jumping track
Post by: pethia on January 30, 2013, 08:46:31 PM
Have a new steam loco w/ tender.  Curves are 28" and tender wheels are jumping track when long observation cars added (2).  Anyone add weight to tender?  IF yes, how did you do it?

I'm guessing you mean 28" Diameter or 14" Radius because 28" radius curves won't cause a problem with anything.

Which Great Northen loco? I'm thinking the 4-8-4 Northern with Vanderbilt tender? That tender is fairly light and weight wouldn't hurt it. What passenger car are you using? Does it have body mount couplers?. Body mounts on a long car are going to cause problems on 14"R and below.

sorry...radius is 14" and it is the Vanderbuild .
I read that adding a bit of lead weight would help.  I wonder if the tender comes apart for me to add some lead shot?
