Title: williams by bachmann 80V transformer
Post by: CAMPBELL LYNN on February 03, 2013, 04:31:41 PM
Howdy..I just purchased this transformer and am now wondering if it will work with my HO track.  I have 2 other "regular" Bachmann transformers/powerpacks, or whatever they are callled...I am still new at this.  Can I use this, and I guess what my question is, is, what do I do with it now?  I have 2 HO EZ tracks set up...just wondering...Also, what is the difference in a transformer and a power pack ? :) thanks :)

A transformer puts out AC voltage to operate AC motors.
A power pack puts out DC voltage to operate DC motors. Both are very different.
The Product catalog should tell you about this. There is a Williams forum and HO forum also.

I suggest doing research before buying instead of after unless you really needed the transformer.

Unfortunately the Bachmann/Williams transformer is for use with Williams O gauge trains, which run on A.C. voltage.

See if Bachmann will give you a credit if you return the power supply to them, un-used.

For most H.O. that I know of, you need D.C. voltage to run the trains.
You need to make sure that your power source will run what you want it to run.
It pays to ask questions before buying something.
