Title: Bachmann N DCC fitted Doodlebug
Post by: FrankS on February 13, 2013, 08:42:02 PM
Hi Guys,
Not an N scaler, but I do work in HOe NG on 9mm track and I'm looking for a chassis for a bogie railcar.
I wonder, could anyone, please, tell me the overall length over body ends of the Bachmann Doodlebug ?
If possible in mm please.
Thanx,
Frank Savery,
w-a-y down south in Tasmania.

I don't have the info handy but length isn't really an issue as the front truck is the only one driven. From the front truck to the end of the power mechanism is probably about 40-50MM at most. The rest of the chassis is just a flat plate with seats and a rear truck mounted to it. If you are going to kitbash an HO body on it, you can make it whatever length you need.

Thanx Tony,
Does it pick up power from the rear truck or is it just a dummy coach bogie.?

The rear truck does have pickup. It uses wipers behind the wheels with tabs that contact leaf springs on the bottom of the chassis. Fairly easy to replicate or cut that section of chassis and re-use it in your kitbash.
