Title: Couple of "stupid" questions from a newbie
Post by: Morgun 30 on February 17, 2013, 11:24:57 AM
Does registering on this site make me a member of the model rr club, or do I need to register for that, too? And, how well do the uncoupling magnets work? Thanks

No you have to click on the link for the club and register. It's very easy.
I use the magnets and they work fine. Others will differ. If you use the search button at top you will find more answers on this topic.
Oh by the way as was quoted many times before, "there is no stupid questions" now that being said there may be some stupid answers ::) ;D

one thing to remember about using naybody's magnets is that the coupler trip pins must be properly adjusted. if they are too low, they snag on your trackwork and can damage the couplers. too high and the magnets won't reliably uncoupler them. it is recommended that you invest in a set of trip pin pliers, and a kadee coupler height guage, and use them religiously.
