Title: 2-6-6-2 Cab Roof
Post by: petervweimer on April 27, 2013, 05:57:13 AM
I plan to enlarge the cab of my expected On30 2-6-6-2 by lifting the cab roof. My question: Is the roof glued to the cab or (what I would definitely prefer) simply clipped in (if so where to press/pull to get it off?) ?

Have a look at this PDF.

I think it is glued on , i can't remove it.

I have  just  taken a look at  one  of  my 2-6-6-2 s  the  roof is   attached to the  cab  by  2  smal screws at  the  FRONT end of the  cab inside the  cab underneath the  roof ,  access to these will probably only be possible by removing  the  cab from the  chassis.

There  are  6 small screws under  the  cab  which I assume  attach the  cab to the  chassis,  be  careful though the  wiring and  sockets  for  the connection  between loco & tender are  beneath the cab,
I doubt  there is any  adhesive involved  but you will find this  out  if you go ahead  with the   dismantling!
