Title: Bachman Spectrum General Question
Post by: mnetto on August 16, 2013, 01:03:41 PM
Hi,

I am new to trains.  Just a quick question.  I am looking at a Spectrum 81179  the photos of the nox show the number 6 on it but the train it self has a number 4 on it.  The decription matches and the train pic matches the pic on the box outside of the number on the train.

Is the same train or does the box pic number always differ from the train itself?

Thanks

There are often minor changes from the pictures supplied by most train mfg.s
You will find features sometimes change from original listings as well. Or maybe it was offered with multiple numbers, you didn't request a specific so they picked one "4" you. :D
Why they do it varies widely. Its not meant to deceive, photos are often taken early in the mfg. process so the ad people can create a catalog to show us. They try to show you a good representation of what they will produce very soon. Its just part of train mfg. If you pay close attention, many non train items differ slightly from their ads and container photos too.
The views for model ads are often detail oriented close ups too, so things do stand out.
