Title: Bachmann Large Scale 55 Ton Shay Meadow River - Chimney Stack
Post by: twojags on September 20, 2013, 11:16:17 AM
I have just purchased the lovely 55 Ton Shay in Meadow River livery but cannot work out how to fix the chimney stack supplied into the appropriate hole. The diameter of the stack seem to be wider than the space. Does it screw or just require brute force to push in? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I don't have my 55 tonner handy, but I believe it is a press fit.  Some have a slot which must be aligned before it will go in.  The fit on all my loco's was very tight.

I agree with Bill.  There is a small key (tab) on the bottom of the stack.  This must fit into the slot on the edge of the hole on the top of the boiler. As I remember the slot is along the center line of the boiler.

The fit on mine was very tight, don't remember if it was keyed or not.

FWIW, I also have the Meadow River Shay.
