Title: Smooth Running Motors
Post by: wb2002 on November 19, 2013, 03:43:19 AM
What are some smooth running motors for the Bachmann HO F7's that are not too difficult to install? I am using DCC.

Thanks

Hello wb2002

Simple solution....use a ESU decoder and the standard Bachmann motors looks like replaced. I habe several F7's, and am really pleased with the quality. So if you use the standard Bachmann decoders, get rit of them, put in a good decoder and be surprised what happens...    ;)

How old it this F7? You gave very little info.

Tell us what the issue is with this loco. More info.

DC or DCC? More info.

If DCC, what are you using to control the loco. Again, more info.

Realize there are various values of difficult or easy.

my experience with Bachmann locomotives is that the motor is smooth running as is. however, many motors do not have a flywheel which leads to the impression of a sub par motor.

with dcc there is a simple solution. setting the acceleration and deceleration (cv3 and cv4) will smooth out motor performance and act as an electronic flywheel. try programming a value of 3 for both those cv's as a starting point, and increase them until you get the effect you want.
