Title: Considering a Bachmann HO 50702 USRA
Post by: hutch on May 19, 2014, 05:57:51 PM
0-6-0 Steam Locomotive with Smoke Unit. I have a free wire sound decoder I want to install in it. I have installed quite a few but I'm wondering if there's anything I need to watch out for with this one considering it has a smoke unit.

Leave the smoke unit connected to the drivers.
Does the tender have metal wheels and pickups?
Are there six wires between the loco and tender like the Spectrum DCC steamer's?

The Bachmann diagram does not show any of the above.

This question has been posted a few times here with answers. Search the General and HO forums.

Hutch,

Hit the search button above.  Search for 0-6-0 with my name in the box to the right.

You'll get a bunch of posts with photos.  I have done everything except install sound in one of these USRA switchers.

The link above is a good start.

Regards,

Jonathan
