Title: Bachmann HO berkshire front coupler

Purchased new Bachmann 2-8-4 and front coupler for engine was completely detached from engine and was (is) a group of parts.
need help on assembling front coupler and mounting same on front of 2-8-4.

coupler is not shown on parts diagram.

Mech,

The front coupler assembly is shown in the diagram.  A single screw holds the coupler and cap of the coupler box (draft gear box). 

Under the pilot (front of loco) is a small hole for the screw.  You slip the coupler through the front slot and lay the cap and screw on top, while the loco is upside down.

Jonathan - Thanks very much for your directions re the front coupler.

I must confess to my lack of attention when I said the parts diagram didn't show the front coupler. It helps if one refers to the proper diagram ;)

Thanks again for your help- front coupler is now in place.

Only out of curiosity; why6 would you just want the non-functioning(dummy) coupler, rather than installing a functioning (Kadee comes to mind) coupler?

The included coupler is a functioning EZ mate. They work fine. I do replace mine with scale head couplers.
