Phillip-

The biggest problem you have is living in Australia where shipping from the states may be prohibitively expensive. However, I think it would be worth checking eBay and on-line hobby stores in Australia. If money is no object, try North West Short Line. They sell can motors of just about any size you can imagine. Also, check Talking Electronics on line. TE is an Australian company which sells all kinds of electrical and electronic parts for hobbyists. I've purchased from them several times and have had wonderful experiences. Their site has tons of good information on anything which involves moving electrons from point A to point B. I don't think they sell can motors but I'm sure they can put you on to someplace in Australia which does.

Check out Laurie McLean who lives in Oz. He is very active in DCC and animation. He does work with different types of motors.
I see him a few train groups. You could even Google him.
You might even Google the loco and include can motors.
