Title: part changes
Post by: Ernie K on December 14, 2014, 03:37:52 PM
Hello all.
Does Bachman or anyone else made a cover for the coal bin on Shays to make an oil burner from a coal engine?
Also, is there a normal funnel to replace the spark arrestor on Shays?
Thank you.

Kitbashing an oil tank cover from styrene sheet should be dead easy.

Just purchase a brass, or even make, an oil filler hatch.

Bachmann themselves makes what you need. The oil tank is a diecast insert that replaces the coal load. The straight stack used to be available through the online store.

Check Ebay.....you may find someone selling parts and bits.

Here's a couple pics of one of my straight stacked oil burnin' Shays.
