Title: Bachmann RS3 adding grab irons
Post by: bapguy on March 10, 2015, 04:08:06 PM
I have an RS3 sound value loco on order. I have 2 Bachmann GP9's and S4's. I've added grab irons to these models. I would like to do the same to the RS3. Has anyone done this already? If so what grab irons did you use? Did you use a drilling guide  of some sort? I have a BLMI grab iron drilling guide but am not sure it will work on the RS3 as the ends are curved. Can't wait for it to get here.  Joe

The BLMA jig is for EMD and GE locos.

You can get RS-2/3 grabs here: http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/247-205 (http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/247-205)

New Haven had a lot of ALCO RS's. I'm slowly trying to do at least one in each of the various paint schemes they used.

An aside -

Joe,
When the ALCO RS3 Sound Value decoder equipped locomotive arrives pay attention to the default value in CVs 3, 4, 25 and 29.

Len, Hunt, thanks for the info. I use Decoder Pro to use my own speed table. I program the address, CV3,4& 29 as well.  Joe
