Title: Small layout plan
Post by: AndyJB on March 26, 2015, 03:27:29 PM
Maybe impossible but I'd like to build my grandson a small layout 4'X4'.
I'd like to have 2 circles and be able to switch from one to the other. Will I be able to install enough straight track to take a switch or are switches available with a small enough radius to work in a curve?
Plan examples would be nice.
Thanks

you'd be better off going with 4x5 or 4x6. what you want to do is not possible in 4x4 unless you use 15r curves. I don't recommend the use of curves sharper than 18r, so the added foot of a 4x5 will allow you to maintain this minimum radius.

I would've said 4x8.
