Does anyone have an early 1900s locomotive roster for the "MA & PA"
#1 - 4-4-0 - Baldwin built 1895
#2 - 2-6-0 Baldwin - 1895
#3 4-4-0 -Baldwin - 1895
#4, 5, 6 - 4-4-0 - Richmond Loco - 1901
#20 - 0-4-0 - 1887
#21, 22 - 4-6-0 - Pennsy Altoona Shops - 1881 (used)
#23, 24 - 2-8-0 -Baldwin - 1902
#25 - 2-8-0 - Baldwin - 1905
#26 - 2-6-0 - Balwin -1905
#27, 28 - 4-6-0 - Baldwin - 1906, 1910
#29, 30 - 0-6-0 - Baldwin - 1913
#41, 42,43 - 2-8-0 - Baldwin - 1914, 1914, 1925
Of those on that roster list, the following have been produced in HO over the years:
4-4-0 Nos. 4, 5, 6 - Currently available from Bachmann; No. 6 done in brass by Alco Models years ago (and not quite correct, either)
4-6-0 Nos. 27, 28 - Bachmann low-driver Ten-Wheeler; Olympic Express brass (kind of crude - turnings, not detail castings) and Olympia/Gem brass (a nice model)
2-8-0 Nos. 23-25 - Brass model by PFM years back. The former MDC/Roundhouse kit is pretty close.
2-8-0 Nos. 41, 42, 43 - All 3 done in brass by Overland; No. 43 done in brass by PFM before that. All very nice models.
0-6-0 Nos. 29 & 30 - Brass models done by Westside years ago.
Thanks guys. I have acquired an old Aristo Craft model of a 2-4-2 (probably was a kit) originally lettered for the "MA & PA" and am trying to get a history.
That Aristo Craft is HO. Should have mentioned.
Back in the day, suppliers were wont to slap most any road name on any loco they did. As you can see, the Ma & Pa never owned a 2-4-2. Closest thing was a narrow gauge Porter-Bell 2-4-0 that was owned by one of the early Ma & Pa predecessors--probably the Peach Bottom.
