Title: AY- thanks for the feedback
Post by: Win234 on July 05, 2015, 12:16:38 AM
Dear Ay, I'm glad you reply to my questions. But I did research on the RS3 locomotive. I read the locomotive was used in the late 50's and 60's,  for heavy freight usage. The locomotive was retired in the late 90's. The model company called Atl, as I was told, have put sound into their locomotives,  with certain road names. Only I didn't see the name Southern. As for Ath, they have produce the RS3 locomotive, with the name Southern,  and other road names, but no sound. Now getting to the Acela, I look at another website, and saw that someone stated, they if you put a decorder in the Acela, by you know who, the engine runs slow. If the Bach man is reading this, I would love to hear from the company man himself. I'll look out for your reply.

Not sure exactly what you are asking.....
There is no reason that the Acela model would run slower if a decoder is installed in it.
Bachmann has produced an RS3 in Southern.

If you put a decoder in a loco, it will run a bit slower than it did without the decoder if you run it on DC. This is due to the voltage drop through the decoder getting power to the motor. Operating in DCC there should be no speed problems, because the decoder can pass as much of the constant 12V track power to the motor as needed.

Why anyone would install a decoder and run on DC instead of DCC is a whole 'nother question.
