Title: Bachmann Heavy Mountain
Post by: inkaneer on September 07, 2015, 01:56:00 PM
I got a Bachmann heavy mountain and an EM1 that I want to add sound to.  Any recommendations on a sound decoder?

I have a Soundtraxx on mine, but you could use an ESU LokSound Select Micro if you want to. The ESU has superior motor control.

I would highly suggest a 8mm x 12mm sugar cube speaker either from SBS4dcc or the same size zimo speaker from MB Klein.

I put a soundtraxx  TSU 750 into my 2-10-2 with a 1/2" round speaker . Its not too difficult , just unsolder the stock decoder and solder in the new one . I did have to modify the coal load a bit to get the speaker to fit well .  Also you WILL need a speaker enclosure ,soundtraxx makes one to fit the speaker .  The ESU is a bit smaller decoder and should work well also .
