Title: Help modifying 2-6-0 Tender for DCC install
Post by: jb1677 on September 16, 2015, 11:39:00 PM
I am doing a DCC retro into a Bachmann 2-6-0 Mogul. This is my first train, first experience with DCC and fist mod of any kind. I followed a few install guides online (mostly the pacificcoastliner site - so helpful!) and so far I have successfully installed the decoder, got sound and movement - SCORE! I am now trying to button the project up but need some help finishing the tender. To install the decoder and speakers I had to cut out the coal bed.

I have found two pictures (one from the Soundtraxx Tsunami Manual and one from http://eastblueridge.com/page3/files/category-locomotives.html (http://eastblueridge.com/page3/files/category-locomotives.html) ) of how I want to finish the hole I cut but cant find stock parts.

Anyone seen something like these boards that would work in stock form or with minimal modification to finish off a coal bunker?  Sorry for such a newbie question!

Most of the bachmann tenders have a hole in the bottom chassis.
So you don't have to remove the coal load.
Is also an option.
