Title: Wye Switch Connections
Post by: Jack TS on September 21, 2015, 11:58:22 AM
I used a Bachmann HO 44569 NS EZ Track #5 Wye Switch in a layout I am working on. All NS EZ track with the grey roadbed on layout so far. The roadbed prevents connection to both of tracks leaving the Wye. Is it as simple as trimming roadbed off of one piece or should I be using something other than regular track?

Are you trying to use a straight section at both ends leaving the WYE?  If so and that is creating the problem, how about not using 2 straight sections and try at least one section that is not straight at one of the ends leaving the WYE?

I used a 44511 9" section and 4 1/2" 44514 section on my wye. All I had to do was trim the inside roadbed on the 44514 to fit with the 9" 44511. If you have a remote #5 turnout it comes with a short straight to make up the track and underneath are scribe lines to show where to cut the roadbed to fit to the turnout. I just transferred those markings to my 4 1/2 but you could do the same thing and have 2 9" straights off of the wye.

Thanks guys. I will pursue both options tonight.
