This is gauge 1, 1:32 scale. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMvj2k0nl1E not just steam from the stack but working cylinder drain cocks as well, Truly epic. German prototype.

I agree.  Saw this video some time ago and it puts all the smoke units in North America to shame.

Best way to describe all the smoke units I've seen on North American videos is, "pathetic".  :)

Why do people even bother with them?

The scale of the model, being huge-gantic, allows room for all sorts of compressed air devices that blow the smoke out at high pressure and makes it dissipate more rapidly, resulting in a much more realistic appearance.  I don't think all that could be done in HO.

True. But in O gauge it might be possible and at 1:20 it would definitely be possible.

I wonder what it smells like?
