Title: compatability of combining steel alloy and nickel silver track
Post by: waynefrost on March 25, 2016, 04:35:12 PM
I needed 4.5 inch piece of EZ Track to complete a layout. Since there is not a section of this length in steel alloy, I inserted a 4.5 inch section of NS. The short light (ST Lo code) comes on immediately on my Digitrax Zephyr. Any thoughts on what might be causing the short?

This issue is not being caused by simply using N/S track in line with steel track.

Look for something else to be the cause of your short.  Something across both rails that is conductive, perhaps?  Things of that nature.  Best of luck.

You say that you completed your layout, have you possibly completed a reverse loop also? Hard to say what the problem is. Have you left any tools laying across the rails?
