Post by: BillBrakeman on April 07, 2016, 01:10:23 PM
The  Heisler's power trucks contain small pc boards.  What are their purpose?

If it's at the top of the truck and has 4 pads on it, it's what carries power from the power truck to the wiring in the locomotive. (I believe the Heisler pre-dates Bachmann using this set-up, though.) More likely, if it's attached to the motor, or really close to it, it will have a capacitor or three on it, and maybe some RF choke coils. This is noise suppression for the motor. It's not needed, so you can just cut it out if you're installing new controls. Some manufacturers have recommended removing those boards to avoid conflicts with their control systems anyway.

Thank you, Kevin.  Your answer is what I thought, but I wanted conformation before I cut it off.
