Title: Frog Angles Spread Sheet
Post by: Jake on November 21, 2007, 08:36:01 PM
Hey all, I was feeling bored so I whipped up a spreadsheet showing the Angle of a #x turnout (Frog #'s 1-30 are included) in degrees for quick reference. Go down to your frog number, and in the cell immediately to the right is that same angle in degrees. Not much to it, but it can be useful.

You can download it at http://rapidshare.com/files/71381098/Frog_Angles.xls.html

P.S.-If there is anything you think I should add, tell me. I'll check it out.

Jake,

You might want to try and put this some where else, I could not get the file to down load, all I kept getting was a page to buy the service, even when I clicked on the free button  :-\ it still came up with a page wanting you to pay for something.  :(  As I hand lay my own track and work with AutoCad this was something that looked interesting.

Andre  :) :)

Are you sure? I just downloaded it myself. Click "free", and then it will give you a list of places to download it from, just leave that alone, and then under that it will give you a code to enter into the box beneath. Enter it, and to the left click "Download via: (What ever is on the button)"

Though I can see how you may have gotten confused, as there are links to Paypal just below what I described.  Go figure.

I can't do it either. When I enter the code, I get to the next page OK; then when I click the button I get a "Can't find file" message.

Okay then, I'll get on finding a new file host tomorrow, since I'm about to go to bed.

Jake:

Would you please explain the value, reason, or need for someone with a simple layout for data pertaining to frog angles.

I use E-Z Ttrack and have to take what is given. I also have in the past inserted other product and bedding to match the E-Z Track.

Appreciate your reply.

Jonathan

I'm sorry its taken so long to get back to you Jonathan, I got busy and the topic just kind of sank out of existence! :D I use it for a few things, mainly track planning. Like when I'm making a passing siding, and need a curve that fits the diverging route of a turnout and the track parallel to the main, instead of using XtrkCAD's horrid easement function for it, I can just create a piece of curved track with the desired radius and look up the correct angle for the piece so it fits just right. And as said by earlier, people that handlay their track often use CAD programs to create a template off of which they lay their track.
