Title: locomotive address change
Post by: Novis on June 25, 2016, 02:58:22 PM
Can I program a Bachmann steam engine #80126 on the main line or must I use a program track with my MRC Prodigy Advance DCC system?  And if so, how do I do it either way?  I tried to follow the manual to no avail.

Programming Sound Value decoder address on the Main Track with MRC Prodigy Advance DCC system

When using Prog Main Track the Sound Value decoder does not allow changing the type of address currently in use. In other words, the decoder will ignore a change from a short address to another short address or from a long address to another long address.

Following is the workaround to the decoder's address type restriction when using Prog Main Track.

If you can run the locomotive using short address (example 3), then with the locomotive not moving  and the MRC Cab is set to allow program on the Main Track, then select  Prog Main Track and follow the MRC instructions to program address 3 to address 1000.

Once programmed, if you can run the locomotive using address 1000, then with the locomotive not moving  select Prog Main Track procedure and program address 1000 to the short  address you want.
