Title: Warranty repaired Dynamis not recognizing locos
Post by: Pdorazio on September 02, 2016, 10:26:10 PM
Hi, the Name is Pete and I am a new member. Our layout is all Ez track with dcc turnouts and a Dynamis controller as we just switched from Ez command.  All receivers are Bachmann, as are most of our Locos.

We just got the Dynamis from Bachmann for warranty repair as it shorted right when we got it.  Now we hook it up and no locos are recognized.  But all dcc locos run super slow like they are in DC mode and they run with no speed steps and independent of address.

The track reads 7 volts. I am at a loss.  What is happening?  The locos were all assigned single digit addresses before installing the Dynamis.

Please assist.

Pdorazio :   If your  track has only  7 Volts you are not getting full power to your track .  Regular DC puts out  12 Volts to operate and  DCC need significantly more as the decoders  are power hungry .  What caused  your original  machine to short out ?  Time to call the Bachmann Service Department and ask their advice . Hi.  We had the ez command with about six locos on track.  We bought the dynamis used and hooked it up.  After a few minutes of running all trains took off.  My hhp8 ran through a line of boxcars and derailed.  Dynamis showed flashing green short and never recovered i sent it in with 45$ and received another.  Now hook it up and each dcc train train will run on its own as soon as dynamis is plugged in.  7v measured.  No continuity between rails so no short.  Ez command still works perfectly.  Engine 1 on ez commmand not responsive to dynamis on address 1. Box is getting signal from handset as I see the yellow flashing when commands given.
The stop command works and will stop the engines but as soon as stop turned off it runs one speed with lights on.
All locos have Bachman decoders.

I will call Bachmann onnTuesday.
Just for kicks I attached the EZ comand power supplly to the dynamis.  It does the same thing but here is now 10v constant on track and trains run a little faster.  Strange as it is a 1 amp supply and the dynamis is 2.3 amp.
one other thing it does is automatically goes to stop every so often even thogh controller bartteries measure 1.57 v each and it is right next to receiver.
