Title: users guide
Post by: old newbie on October 22, 2016, 11:00:57 PM
I recently purchased a new 4-6-0 Baldwin with sound value DDC.  Where can I find a "users guide" specific to this loco or one with similar "Sound Value" DDC?

DDC should be DCC - Digital Command Control

Q: Where can I find a "users guide" specific to this loco or one with similar "Sound Value" DDC DCC?

Answer:
Click Here  (http://www.soundtraxx.com/factory/OEM_pages/bachmann/bachmann_ho_460_sv.pdf)  This is the only document available specifically for the Bachmann HO 4-6-0 DCC Sound Value decoder factory equipped locomotive.  In the document, I see an obvious cosmetic misprint. CV 229 should be CV 29. There may be other cosmetic or technical misprints. I did not take the time to verify the information with the decoder.

There is a general Quick Start Guide for DCC Sound Value locomotives  Click Here  (http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/images/Sound-Value-Decoder-Quick-Start-Guide.pdf) for it.

The Sound Value decoders are made by SoundTraxx to Bachmann specifications but they are not SoundTraxx Tsunami decoders; however,  in some areas similar. Therefore you can use the supported CVs listed in

http://www.soundtraxx.com/factory/OEM_pages/bachmann/ho4-6-0.pdf

as an  index  looking up the CVs in

  Tsunami Steam Technical Reference http://www.soundtraxx.com/manuals/tsutechreference.pdf
  Tsunami Steam User's Guide  http://www.soundtraxx.com/manuals/tsunamisteam_users_guide.pdf

to cobble together  part of the missing documentation. This is what is currently available and this method has some major drawbacks for someone without basic DCC knowledge.

It is not as hard as it first will appear to be.

Note: Bachmann has remapped the effect of some of the Functions.
